About Vacation Rentals in Connecticut Shores

Shore Towns occupy the coastal Connecticut region. Shore Towns are filled with fishing villages that were once ship building towns, and breathtaking scenery. The Long Island Sound emptying out into the Atlantic Ocean makes for the perfect playground for outdoor enthusiasts. Fishing, swimming, sailing, beach combing, sight-seeing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and all water related activities can be enjoyed here. The Hammonasset Beach State Park at Madison in Shore Towns is the largest beach in Connecticut. Swimming, snorkeling, and surf fishing can be enjoyed at this two mile white sandy beach. Fewer visitors visit Harvey's Beach in Old Saybrook that's kind of a hidden beach. The crescent shaped Ocean Beach in New London is the place for the best swimming in the Shore Towns. The boardwalk flanking the beach provides excellent jogging or strolling opportunities. Rocky Neck State Park near Niantic features a great beach and a vast salt marsh that shelters a variety of bird life, which can be viewed from different points along the trails that meander through the park.

Enjoy some 'beach-less' adventures in Shore Towns at the Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam. Centered around the mansion built for William Gillette, an actor famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, and set on the Connecticut River, the park provides excellent canoing, fishing, and hiking opportunities, as well as serving as the ideal picnic spot. Chatfield Hollow State Park near Killingworth is a 375-acre wooded hollow that is perfect for hiking and exploring since it contains interesting caves and rocky ledges.
