His 1736 home has been restored and now serves as a local-history museum. West Dennis Beach, located on the Nantucket  Sound is a surfers haven and swimming is a bit tough due to the tricky waves. On Scargo Lake in Dennis is Scargo Hill Tower, built on the highest spot in the area at 160 feet above sea level. From the top of the 38-step tower, you can see from Barnstable Harbor to the west to Provincetown in the east. Scargo lake is a romantic spot and it gives you the best sunsets and stargazing that you can ever experience.
 
The villages of East Dennis, Dennis and South Dennis feature scenic historic districts dating  back to whaling days, while tranquil tree-lined streets meander through Dennis port and West Dennis. For culture buffs there's the Cape Cod Museum of Art with its art openings, Music & More Concerts and independent film series along with the world renowned Cape Cinema. The hiking trails of the area are open to all public and  Crowes Pasture off South Street at the end of Quivet Cemetery in East Dennis and the 87 acre Fresh Pond Conservation Area will attract visitors with a penchant for an active vacation.
