Nebraska is a Great Plains state of the United States. Nebraska was once considered as part of the Great American Desert, and it is now a leading farming state. Nebraska is composed of two major land regions, the dissected Till Plains and the Great Plains and is bordered by South Dakota to the north, Iowa and Missouri to the east. The Fort Niobrara Wilderness, located near Valentine has a variety of wildlife ranging from bison, prairie dogs, mule deer, river otter and the bald eagle. The Hunter Cove Park is located in Harlan County Lake near Republican City, Nebraska.  The lake and surrounding area features diverse outdoor pursuits for vacationers and the Hunter Cove Park offers 150 campsites.

The Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway is another attraction in the area and it is known as one of the 10 most scenic routes in the nation. The diverse terrain in the byway ranges from marshes, wetlands, and hills of cattle country.   Other features in this byway are the nation’s largest hand-planted forest, museums, and historic buildings. The Heritage Highway is another scenic byway that is frequented by vacationers in the area.
