About Gold Beach

Whether you want to sit quietly by the beach, or hike or water ski or fish, Gold Beach, Oregon, is the place to be. Late December to early March is special for Gold Beach in Coastal Oregon - it is the time when migrating whales pass by the region. Majestic cliffs over look the ocean from around the beaches in Gold Beach. There is the Agate Beach, named so because of the agate stones there. For vacationers at the Oregon Vacation Homes, fishing and white water rafting is possible at the meeting spot of the Rogue River and the Pacific ocean.

The banks of the Rogue River hold deer, black bear, river otters, and bald eagles. Steelhead and salmon abound in the fishing holes. More fishing and rafting is available where the Chetco River runs through Brookings, south of Gold Beach. Brookings also features the most northern range of giant redwood trees. The Cedar Bend Golf Course has deer, elk, and a bird population. The course's nine holes play like 18 with multiple tee locations and two flags on each green.

Head inland to Ashland where the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is the most popular attraction. This internationally acclaimed facility has three theaters. There are over 100 art galleries at Ashland, and many museums. Dance, opera, and arts can all be enjoyed at Ashland. Plenty of jazz clubs, day spas, and upscale restaurants are also here.
