About Lake Ariel

Located in the Pocono Mountains area, Lake Ariel offers visitors the Beech Tree Gardens Bed & Breakfast, a beautiful Victorian home surrounded by 81 forested acres; Land State Park; Prompton State Park; and also historic sites like Zane Grey Museum and coal mine tours. Today Ariel Lake is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Pocono Mountains.

For guests of Pennsylvania Vacation Homes, Lake Ariel offers canoing, kayaking, and angling. Boaters can discover Lake Wallenpaupack, the third largest man-made lake in Pennsylvania. This lake is on the border of Wayne and Pike counties and offers 52-miles of shoreline. There are six recreation areas on the lake with forest lands, wildlife, walking trails, and boat slips. Or you can visit the Harry Houdini Museum. The museum is located in nearby Scranton. This is the only facility in the world completely dedicated to the life's work of Harry Houdini, the great magician. The museum holds seances on the anniversary of his death to try to contact him.

Lake Ariel is also a starting off point for other Pocono attractions. The Pennsylvania Fishing Museum in Dingmans Ferry will enthuse fishing enthusiasts. Here visitors can watch the displays of fishing equipment from the 1700s through the 1950s. The Zane Grey Museum in Lackawaxen, which pays tribute to Zane Grey, a prolific writer noted for his contributions to the Western genre, is a place for literary buffs.
